Removing a Domain Controller from a Windows 2003 Domain

I needed to remove a domain controller earlier today after the hardware failed. I couldn't find an easy way to remove it from the domain. So, I contacted some friends of mine over at Synergistic Networks. They had suggested that I look at the follo…

Concept Tablet PC: Foldable Screen and Integrated Cell Phone

Gizmodo has a post about a Tablet PC concept model that includes both a foldable display and an embedded cell phone radio.

The device, dubbed the Flexi PDA, also sports an integrated keyboard has generated a lot of buzz, with the device being called an example of future tech.

I won’t argue with that, but what’s up with the screenshot of Windows XP?

And when will I be able to get one?

The Technical Architecture of Exchange Server 2007

I feel like a treasure hunter.  In my quest to find you valuable nuggets, I unearthed the mother lode on Exchange Server 2007.  The Technical Architecture of Exchange Server 2007 is almost 600 pages of pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about the product.  The shocking thing is that the download is only 5.5meg.  If you decide to print this, make sure to print duplex on a really good printer.

Just upgraded to WM6 on my Dash from the T-Mobile website, so far everything works fine…

My Current Today Screen

My today screen and the theme used on my Pocket PC have not changed much over the past few months. However, things start to change after I upgraded Spb Diary to version 2.5. With Spb Diary 2.5, it’s great that I can add third party today plug-ins inside as a custom tab. After I did the upgrade, I began thinking about what cool today plug-ins I can add.

I started setting Spb Diary to use horizontal tabs instead of the default mode which uses vertical tabs. Initially, I tried adding some of the today plug-ins that I do not use but are in my device. The best one I tried to add so far is Spb Time. However, I find it insufficient and it’s not making full use of the full screen.

Soon, I thought of rlToday. I think it would make an excellent addition to my today screen. After I downloaded and installed it, I began customising it and modified the skin slightly to suit my needs. Eventually, this is what I got.

If you notice, the skin I am using is actually a slightly modified version of the original skin that came with rlToday. The original one displays 3 month calendar, but I reduced it to 2 due to the limited screen space. I also removed the background image used in the skin as it was distorted in some areas. The last modification I did was to remove some of the extra modules originally in the bottom left of the today plug-in.

By the way, I notice something weird about rlToday. Initially, I tried to customise the alphabets that represent days of the week from the options screen. However, that cause my device to hang. After a soft reset, the device hangs just before loading the today plug-ins. Fortunately, I had Spb Pocket Plus to allow me to boot in safe mode. I had to uninstall rlToday and try again. After attempting to customise from the options screen, I ended up with the crazy problem again. Eventually, I decide to install an earlier version and skip the customisation. Instead, I checked out the settings file (INI file) and modified it. This round, I got all the customisation I was looking for without the device hanging. Finally!

So, if you are having the same problems with rlToday as I do, let me just help you out. I have packaged the modified skin together with the settings file in this ZIP archive. Simply download it and copy to the appropriate folders in rlToday, making sure you overwrite the files.

Internet in Automobiles?

Yes its true. Many companies such as Ford are coming out with web enabled products. In fact, Ford's product will run Windows Auto. However, this product takes the cake: http://www.autonetmobile.com/wp/service. AutoNet Mobile allows multiple devices…
